Summary
Revision

In this lesson, we will explore the hardware needed for a Local Area Network (LAN). We will look at wireless access points, routers, switches, and network interface controllers (NICs), as well as the transmission media used to connect devices. To connect stand-alone computers into a LAN, specific hardware components are required.

Wireless Access Points

Wireless access points (WAPs) enable wireless devices to connect to the LAN. They act as intermediaries between wireless devices (such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets) and the wired network infrastructure. WAPs are essential in providing Wi-Fi connectivity in homes, offices, and public places like cafes and airports.
