This module introduces the core of archaeological research and discusses how we uncover and understand the past, why it matters, and the history of the discipline. Almost everybody has heard of archaeology, so this module aims to go deeper and give you a solid understanding of how we work and what we aim to achieve in our projects. The history of archaeology is also an extremely turbulent one, rooted in empire, in exploitation, and in some deeply disrespectful treatments of countless nations’ and cultures' natural and historic environment.
