1.3 Researching the Right Geography Degree for You
Geography contains a wide range of disciplines, Human Geography and Physical Geography is the most obvious example, but you can also split Geography into the hydrosphere, lithosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. Each study can vary significantly to each other as they use different techniques, technology, principles and processes.
Choosing the Right Geography Degree
Below is a list of possible directions to take your studies in Geography. Think about what you are most interested in studying, as it will most likely fall into one or more courses.
Geography is a flexible degree, most Universities will provide degrees with the option for you to direct your studies into a specific direction, these will be: Geography (Human and Physical) BSc which covers a wide spectrum of topics, or Geography & Environmental Science BSc, which explore more of the chemical, physical, and biological elements. On some occasions, Universities may offer a joint honoursA split undergraduate degree where a student can study two different subjects, possibly unrelated, equally. degree, where you can supplement your Geography studies with topics such as: Economics, History, Language.
