    Module Review

As the name suggests, Chemistry forms an important part of Chemical Engineering, where the concepts introduced in GCSEs and A-Levels both indicate and play a significant role in what you will learn at degree level. You will encounter greater complexity in topics such as Physical and Organic Chemistry than in your previous study, and you will learn how to apply these concepts to Thermodynamics as well as Reaction Engineering. Whilst not necessarily applicable to the career of an industrial chemical engineer, a strong base understanding of Chemistry & Thermodynamics is particularly useful for those interested in having a career in academia, where cross-functional research and knowledge has a major role.

This module provides an example of how school-level Chemistry concepts are developed further at university, focusing on topics you will encounter in the first year of a Chemical Engineering degree. We will explore areas such as Physical Chemistry, key aspects of Reaction KineticsA Branch of Chemistry and Thermodynamics that studies the rate of chemical reactions and their influencing factors. relevant to Chemical Engineers, and an introduction to Thermodynamics as an area of study through equation derivation.
