2.3 Modern Philosophers
Even today, philosophers continue to ask these centuries-old questions and explore new ones. Currently, the questions of MetaphysicsA branch of Philosophy that explores the nature of reality. are considered based on advancements in science and technology, especially in areas such as Quantum MechanicsThe theory used to describe the behaviour of very small particles (atomic and subatomic level). Unlike classical physics which is deterministic, quantum mechanics is a probabilistic theory. and CosmologyThe study of the origins and structure of the universe., and they will continue to be relevant as technology advances even further.
What Does Modern Philosophy Explore?
Modern philosophers explore old and new questions in Metaphysics such as:
- What is reality?
- How do we know what is real?
- Does one event actually cause another?
- What makes someone the same person over a period of time?
- Do other realities exist beyond the one we are perceiving?
- What does it mean to be conscious?
