Before we begin, it’s important to understand what Philosophy is and why you might want to study it at degree level, or at all.

Philosophy is the study of important questions about existence, knowledge, and ethics. The word “Philosophy” comes from the Greek word philosophia, meaning “love of wisdom”. At its core, Philosophy seeks to explore the big questions such as: What is the meaning of life? How do we know what is true? What is the nature of happiness? What is morally right?

Philosophy is divided into branches such as Metaphysics (the study of reality), Epistemology (the study of knowledge), Ethics (the study of right and wrong), and Logic (the study of reasoning). These branches help us to think critically and challenge our assumptions, making Philosophy a useful tool to better understand ourselves and the world around us.

Now, let’s look at degree courses, entry requirements, and career paths.
