In the Western world, a lot of the Philosophy we study today was started by the Ancient Greeks (1200 BCE to 323 BCE). At the time, they wanted to be able to explain the world around them without turning to religion or myths to answer those big questions.

Which Ancient Greeks Started Metaphysics?

In the time of the Ancient Greeks, there were several important philosophers, but two in particular were influential in the field of Metaphysics. The first is Plato (427–347 BCE) and the second is his student Aristotle (384–322 BCE). Their views on reality are still vital to our understanding of existence today. They wanted to uncover the ultimate principles that determine how existence and reality work. Their discussions and debates opened the door for centuries of studies into the nature of existence.
