Ideal and Real Gases
A gas is a state of matter in which the molecules are widely spaced and have a high degree of freedom of motion. Gases are characterized by their ability to expand and fill any container, and they have a low density and a high compressibility.
An ideal gas is a theoretical concept that represents the behavior of a gas under ideal conditions, where the gas is assumed to have a constant volume, no intermolecular forces, and no heat transfer between the gas and the surroundings. The ideal gas law is a mathematical equation that describes the behavior of an ideal gas, and it is based on the assumptions of the ideal gas model.
A real gas is a gas that behaves according to the laws of thermodynamics, and it is subjectThe person, place, thing, or idea the clause is about; performs or experiences the verb. to the influence of intermolecular forces, volume changes, and heat transfer. Real gases deviate from the behavior of ideal gases at high pressures and low temperatures, and they exhibit a variety of physical and chemical properties that are not predicted by the ideal gas law.
