1.2.3 Deforestation

In this lesson, we will explore the changing rates of deforestation, examine a case study of deforestation in a tropical rainforest, and discuss the causes and impacts of deforestation. We will specifically address subsistence and commercial farming, logging, road building, mineral extraction, energy development, settlement, and population growth as causes, as well as the economic development, soil erosion, and contribution to climate change as impacts of deforestation.
