Wesak

Wesak, or Vesak, is one of the most important festivals in Buddhism, celebrated on the full moon day in May. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of the Buddha. Buddhists celebrate Wesak with devotional practices, offering alms to monks, and engaging in acts of kindness and compassion.

Parinirvana Day

Parinirvana Day is observed on the anniversary of the Buddha's passing away into Parinirvana. Devotees reflect on the Buddha's teachings and the impermanence of life. It is a day of contemplation and a reminder of the importance of spiritual practice.

Festivals and retreats play a vital role in the lives of Buddhists in Britain today, fostering a sense of community, providing opportunities for learning and practice, and deepening their connection with the Buddha's teachings and the Buddhist community.
