Congratulations on reaching the final module of the Law Taster Course! We have prepared a checklist of tasks that you might want to complete to prepare yourself for undertaking a Law degree.

  • Make a list of universities that offer Law degrees I am interested in. Remember to consider the range of modules they offer.
  • Check entry requirements for each university and ensure that I am studying the right A-Levels or analogous degrees to be eligible.
  • Plan how to financially support myself at university, considering student loans, living costs, and accommodation prices of different cities.
  • Ensure that I achieve, or am on track to achieve, the required A-Level grades or analogous degree grades for my chosen universities and degrees.
  • Gather experience for my personal statement, including reading around the topic and ensuring that I have a solid basis for understanding the basics.
  • Find work experience or extracurricular activities that could strengthen my application.
  • Find solicitors, barristers, or legal professionals who may be willing to let me shadow them and reach out accordingly.
  • Consider whether I want to complete an EPQ on a Law-related topic and ensure I am capable and have enough time to complete this project.

A Law degree gives you many career choices and helps you grow intellectually. It allows you to learn about lots of different areas, like how the criminal justice system works or dealing with big business contracts. By studying Law, you develop skills like thinking critically, doing research, and communicating clearly; skills that are useful in many careers.

Whether you want to work closely with people, such as helping families or defending someone in court, or focus on areas like business or international law, studying Law prepares you for those paths. It helps you understand how laws shape the world and how to solve complex problems. A background in Law is also valuable in jobs outside the legal field because it teaches you to manage challenges and adapt to different situations.

Choosing to study Law means you’re ready to keep learning, thinking, and growing throughout your life. It’s both mentally rewarding and opens up many job opportunities where you can make a difference.
