    Module Review

    Structures are the central image that Civil Engineering conjures in the minds of most people. Whilst the other modules in this course cover specialisms typically designed to be visually hidden from the public, structures are the feats of Civil Engineering that you can physically see; from industrial landscapes to buildings of exceptional beauty.

    In this module you will be introduced to Structural Engineering. You will learn the basics of structural design and mechanics through forces and reactions. Likewise, we will cover how we analyse structures to determine their behaviour and response under different circumstances. You will also learn the basics of concrete and steel design, the two most essential materials in construction and Engineering.

    Students should have a foundational understanding of mathematics, including calculus and linear algebra. Basic knowledge of physics is also assumed, as concepts like force, mass, and acceleration will be revisited in the contextA discrete unit of archaeological evidence, such as a layer of soil, a structure, or a feature, that can be recorded and interpreted. of static equilibrium.
