Once a concept is developed, the design process shifts to refining and transforming it into a practical architectural solution. This lesson explores how architects bridge creativity and technical skill through drawings, models, and digital visualisations. You'll learn how key decisions on materials, structure, and sustainability shape designs into buildable, effective projects.

Refining the Concept

Design development is about taking an initial concept and refining it through thoughtful analysis, feedback, and problem-solving. Architects must consider factors such as user experience, environmental impact, and structural stability while ensuring the essence of the concept remains intact.

During this phase, the design begins to take shape more concretely, with the refinement of details such as materials, finishes, and spatial arrangements. This stage often involves collaboration with engineers, urban planners, and other specialists to integrate technical requirements, safety standards, and environmental considerations into the design, ensuring a cohesive, practical solution.
