Fluid statics and dynamics are both branches of fluid mechanics, which is the study of the behavior of fluids (liquids and gases) under different conditions.

Fluid statics deals with fluids that are at rest, or in a state of equilibrium. This branch of fluid mechanics is concerned with understanding the behavior of fluids when there is no flow or movement. In fluid statics, the forces acting on a fluid are analyzed using the principles of hydrostatics. Hydrostatics is the branch of fluid mechanics that deals with the study of fluids at rest. It is used to analyze the pressure and force distribution within a fluid.

Fluid dynamics, on the other hand, deals with the study of fluids in motion. This branch of fluid mechanics is concerned with understanding the behavior of fluids when they are flowing. In fluid dynamics, the principles of continuity, momentum, and energy are used to analyze the flow of fluids. The principle of continuity states that the mass of fluid flowing through a given area must remain constant. The principle of momentum states that the momentum of a fluid is conserved. The principle of energy states that the total energy of a fluid is conserved.

To understand fluid dynamics, it is necessary to have a basic understanding of the properties of fluids, such as density, viscosity, and surface tension. Density is the mass of a fluid per unit volume. Viscosity is the resistance of a fluid to flow. Surface tension is the property of a fluid that causes it to behave as if it has a skin on its surface.

Examples of practical applications of fluid dynamics include the design of airplane wings, the study of blood flow in the human body, and the analysis of the flow of water in rivers and oceans.
