Now that we’ve discussed the accreditation pathway, let’s delve into the research option. Upon completion of an undergraduate degree in Accounting, many graduates become completely immersed in a particular specialism within the subject.

Master’s Degrees in Accounting

Pursuing a Master’s degree (abbreviated as an MSc, meaning Masters of Science) is a great way to learn about a specific aspect of Accounting. However, many pursue a Masters degree because they are uncertain about what career path to choose after they have completed their undergraduate degree, and since it's only one academic year in length, most students find that it goes by very quickly.

Course Description
MSc Accounting and Finance Aimed at students who want to deepen their knowledge of financial management, corporate finance, and advanced Accounting practices. Covers topics like financial reporting, auditing, and investment analysis, preparing students for roles in finance and Accounting.
MSc Forensic Accounting Focuses on using Accounting techniques to investigate financial fraud and disputes. It includes forensic auditing, fraud detection, litigation support, and working with law enforcement in financial investigations.
MSc Taxation Provides advanced knowledge of tax laws, policies, and planning strategies. Ideal for those looking to specialise in personal or corporate tax, international tax issues, or tax advisory services.
MBA (Master of Business Administration) While not exclusive to Accounting, this degree offers a broader perspective on business leadership, strategy, and management. Often includes Accounting and finance modules, making it versatile for career advancement into leadership roles.
MSc Data Analytics/Finance Analytics Combines financial expertise with data science techniques. Topics include predictive modelling, financial data visualisation, and machine learning applications in finance. Prepares graduates for roles in fintech, risk analysis, and data-driven financial decision-making.
MSc Business Analytics Equips students with skills to analyse business data for strategic decision-making. Includes modules on financial data analysis, operational analytics, and machine learning. Relevant for roles in consulting, analytics, and strategic planning.
MSc Sustainability and Accounting Focuses on integrating environmental and social considerations into financial reporting and decision-making. Prepares graduates for roles in sustainability consulting or corporate social responsibility (CSR) reporting.
