Philosophy of Religion
In this module, we'll engage with profound questions concerning religious belief and practice, exploring the intersection of philosophyThe study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, and ethics., theologyThe study of religious belief, practice, and doctrine., and spirituality. Our journey begins with an Introduction to Philosophy of Religion, where we lay the groundwork for understanding the field's scope and significance. We then turn to one of the most discussed topics in religious philosophy: The Existence of God, exploring classic and contemporary arguments from diverse philosophical perspectives. This leads us to The Problem of Evil, a challenging inquiry into how we reconcile the existence of a benevolent, omnipotent God with the reality of suffering and evil in the world. Lastly, we delve into The Nature of Religious Experience, investigating how personal experiences, often described as encounters with the divine, influence and shape religious beliefs and practices.
