What is GCSE English Language?
In this lesson, you’ll explore what GCSE English Language is all about. You’ll learn how it focuses on reading real-world texts, writing for different purposes, and analysing how language works.
English Language
GCSE English Language is all about how we use words — to communicate, persuade, describe, argue, inform, and connect. Unlike English Literature, which focuses on studying books and plays, English Language focuses on real-world reading and writing skills you’ll use every day — at school, in work, and in life.
Through this course, you will learn how to identify and use the prerequisites to the English Language, including (but not limited to) word classes, language and structure devices, sentence types and punctuation. This course also takes you through each question in the papers you will sit and helps you understand the style and what is expected of you.
It is important to understand the significance of this course, as it breaks down not only the fundamentals but also allows you to understand how to maximise your marks.
GCSE English Language is a compulsory qualification — everyone in England must take it. Most sixth forms, colleges, and employers expect a Grade 4 or higher in English Language, so doing well in this subject is essential for your next steps.Note
